From 1991 until 1999, Bart Mertens was leading Art Director at Slangen & Partners, where he specialised in institutional, political and consumer communication. He worked for clients including: NCMV, VDAB, De Lijn, Limago, Interelectra, VLAM, Sarma Lunch Garden, CVP, SP, VLD.
In 1999 he became Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi Business Communications and led his creative teams towards several B2B awards. For eight years Bart Mertens and Jean Huysecom formed the creative and strategic team at Saatchi & Saatchi Business Communications. They worked together on several international accounts, such as: Ansell, AD garage, Atlas Copco, Barconet, DuPont, Eurinpro, The European Commission, Gates, GTP, International Paper, Kemira, Komatsu, Nato, Nynas, Recticel, SCA, Securitas, Stow, Vasco and many others.
In September 2007, Jean Huysecom and Bart Mertens joined forces for a new project: Braindance.
